• Wide Field of View Messier 24
  • M24 Star Window

  • IC 4715, M24, is sometimes considered an open cluster
  • in Sagittarius but it is actually a window through the
  • dust clouds in the Milky Way that allows us to see
  • stars from the far side of our galaxy.  This wide field
  • of view makes the window apparent.  NGC 6603,
  • a true open cluster, is also visible and is
  • nearly centered in the frame.
  • Note that M17, M18, M20, M21, M23, M24,
  • and M25 are all visible in this picture.
